This midget town is located in the central part of the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. Hum has changed little since its foundation in the XI century— it is a whole museum in the open air. It resembles a medieval fortress with high walls, city gates and a crenellated bell tower. Today, the local population does not exceed three dozens. Each resident performs their duties: there is a mayor, a policeman, a judge, a postman, a firefighter and a doctor. The sights of Hum include an ancient cemetery and two functioning ancient temples. Frescoes and inscriptions from the Byzantine era are perfectly preserved in one of them.
